Project Description
Devonport Waterfront Hotel
This project was a 4.5 star hotel right in the heart of the waterfront city.
It forms a key part of the Living City master plan and is the most significant single tourism project on Tasmania’s north west coast for many years.
One of the main roles for ModelTek was to compare and find discrepancies between the architectural, structural, and mechanical models to fine-tune the design and provide reliable set outs and information for the construction site. This had to be done in a timely manner, and ultimately fast-tracked construction. This also gave the building contractor confidence as the drawings and information the Tekla model provided, interpreted the design drawings for them. For the contractor to view the 3d model on-site via Trimble Connect was also critical to the planning and staging of the multi-level building.
To be able to use our software to easily import and view the design models and quickly share model views of clashes and discrepancies was of great benefit. Tekla was used to export 3d cad files for the pre-cast shop drawer. These files provided all geometry, rebates, ferrules, and dowel bar locations.
Tekla’s model intelligence was used to create custom reports to keep track of over 640 pre-cast items, from the approval stage, right through to site installation.
We used our Tekla model to produce shop drawings for all steel and metal work items.
